On the 12th of January 1977, Sting, Stewart Copeland & Henry Padovani rehearsed as The Police for the very first time. Henry & Sting had never met before... For more details about the way they all met and the atmosphere and set list of this first rehearsal, which took place on the famous Mayfair Stewart's squat (London), check Sting's autobiography 'Broken Music'. Exactly one week later, Stewart, who had already planed everything, took Sting and Henry on the top of the Mayfair buiding and asked his long time friend Lawrence Impey to take some pictures, later to be used on the first Police single, 'Fall Out'. The amazing photo above is extracted from this historic photo session.  It is the very first time that Stewart and Sting can be seen together, with Henry Padovani at their side. On that rather cold day, Lawrence Impey did approximatively 50 shots, two rolls of film. Stewart couldn't take his drums  with him so he choose something else (nice riffle). Le 12 janvier 1977, il y a donc précisément trente ans,  Sting, Stewart Copeland & Henry Padovani se rencontrent pour effectuer leur toute première répétition en tant que membres du groupe The Police. Sting et Henry Padovani ne se sont encore jamais vus... Pour plus de détails sur la rencontre des trois membres initiaux du groupe et sur le déroulement de cette rencontre fondatrice, qui eut lieu dans le somptueux squat de Stewart à Mayfair (Londres), je vous recommande l'autobiographie de Sting, 'Broken Music'. Exactement une semaine plus tard, Stewart Copeland, qui avait déjà tout plannifié, convie Sting et Henry sur le toît de son immeuble et demande Lawrence Impey, un ami de longue date, de prendre une série de photos, destinées à être utilisées pour la pochette d'un single en préparation : 'Fall Out'.  L'étonne photo qui ouvre cette page est extraite de cette photo session historique. Ce sont les premières images ou l'on peut voir Stewart et Sting ensemble, aux côtés de Henry Padovani. Au cours de cette froide journée d'hiver, Lawrence Impey pris environ une cinquantaine de clichés. Stewart, qui n'avait pu installer sa batterie sur le toit, choisit de poser pour les premières images, avec un autre style d'instrument (jolie la carabine).
